Testimonials

At Preserve Vision Florida, we create awareness about the importance of vision care for all ages through seminars, vision screening, special events, public service announcements, brochures and our website. Our message is simple: have a regular eye exam.

Allegany Franciscan Ministries’ support of the Preserve Vision Florida ”Vision To Succeed” Program has given hope to people living at Salvation Army:

Brian Ellis: “Glasses have allowed me to do a much better job at the warehouse. My work productivity has improved greatly.”

Robert O’Doyle: “I am so appreciative of this program and now I can see. I desperately needed glasses and could not afford the exam or eye wear. Thank you!”

Brian Branham: “I am big into daily reading from the Bible and I struggled so much with dollar store readers. These glasses have made all reading and the ability to read signs much improved. I am so glad to have received this help!”

Brody and MomBrody’s Story

Five-year-old Brody faced the possibility of losing his sight as a kindergartner, but thanks to early detection screening by Prevent Blindness Florida (now Preserve Vision Florida), Brody was able to receive the eye health care he needed. Joyce, Brody’s mother, recalls, “We took Brody to the specialist; I was stunned by the diagnosis. Brody was diagnosed with amblyopia in one eye and the potential for amblyopia in the other. I was scared that my little boy might go blind.”

Prevent Blindness Florida was able to refer Brody to the Guggino Eye Clinic, where he received an eye exam and corrective glasses. According to Brody’s doctor, Dr. Jiacomo Guggino, “After the age of nine, the visual systems mature, and it’s really too late. The importance of early detection of childhood diseases is paramount.”

This is one of many reasons Preserve Vision Florida conducts regular screenings at Health Department Clinics and other locations around the state of Florida. To find out more about Preserve Vision Florida’s screening programs or to find a screening near you, visit our Vision Screenings page.
